Discussion Groups, January – March 2020

On January 27, both of the WACMB Discussion Groups will begin the annual Great Decisions series, which is produced by the Foreign Policy Association of America and is the country’s largest discussion program. The program, which runs for eight weeks, provides background information and policy options for some of the most critical issues facing us each year. WACMB presents this free program at both of our regular discussion group locations: Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the Ryan Ranch location of California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB).

Purchase of the Great Decisions Briefing Booklet is strongly recommended. Booklets will be available for $27 at the monthly luncheon at Palo Corona on January 20; they may be acquired at each meeting site for the same price, or they may be ordered online through the Foreign Policy Assocation for $32 plus shipping.

The MPC program will meet from 4:00-5:30 in Room 101 of the Social Sciences Building. Parking is available for $3 in Lot D. Its schedule will be as follows:

  • Jan. 27: Climate Change and the Global Order
  • Feb. 3: India and Pakistan
  • Feb. 10: Red Sea Security
  • **No meeting on February 17
