Prof Anshu Chatterjee

Speaker

Professor Anshu N. Chatterjee

Senior Lecturer, Naval Postgraduate School, Department of National Security Affairs

Overview

Why has New Delhi refused to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine? How does its position impact its expanding strategic & economic relations with the United States?

Dr. Chatterjee, a South Asia scholar, explains the roots of India’s relationship with Russia and whether it presents a challenge to the newer developing alliance with the United States and other members of the Quad – or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue composed of the U.S., India, Australia and Japan – in the Indo-Pacific region.

Dr. Anshu N. Chatterjee teaches political economy, security, and political developments in the comparative context of South Asia at the Naval Postgraduate School. A specialist in South Asia, insurgencies, military in politics, and the media, her current research examines the development of protest groups in relation to identity politics and state-society relations in disturbed regions in South Asia.

Dr. Chatterjee received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003. She has previously worked as a journalist in India.
