WORLD AFFAIRS COUNCIL
OF THE MONTEREY BAY AREA
 Established in 1951

The Council (WACMB) was founded in 1951 and currently sponsors monthly lectures, discussion groups, the Academic World Quest student program, and special events. Questions and viewpoints of individual members are always welcome.

WACMB produces monthly lectures that feature timely topics from prominent foreign affairs experts such as academicians, diplomats, journalists and United States and foreign government officials.  Most events are open to the public, with no cost to attend the lecture portion of the event.  For details of upcoming lectures check the Latest Events section above and the News and Events link elsewhere on this page.

The Passport, the Council's monthly newsletter, is distributed to all members by email.  It includes announcements about upcoming lectures, discussion groups, and other activities.

The Council conducts monthly discussion groups on Zoom dedicated to exploring current and fundamental international questions facing our society.

On occasion, the Council arranges for a Special Events program on short notice to address a news-breaking issue or to take advantage of an expert unexpectedly visiting the Monterey Peninsula.  These programs complement the monthly lectures.
